Our Beliefs

Establishment of "Abide In The Lamb"

Christ Jesus is recognized as the supreme ruler over the church.  (Colossians 1:18)
Only Christ has the authority to say what the church is and what Christians should teach. We believe the church today should be the same as that in the New Testament in organization, worship, principles of Christian living and most of all in the audience of the first century disciples.  We believe the Spiritual Church to be the Spiritual Body of Christ, His Spiritual Kingdom, The Spiritual New Jerusalem.  Christians today make up New Jerusalem the spiritual church.  Matthew 4:17, Luke 17:20-21 Romans 11:36; Romans 13:12; Philippians 4:5; Titus 3:5; James 5:8; 2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 22:10

As members of Abide In The Lamb, we realize our own personal weaknesses and sin, but we believe that the whole structure of Christianity rests upon the divinity of Christ.  (I Corinthians 15:14; 20-28).  We also believe Christ, when He said He would Fulfill all Prophecy in His Generation.  See study

The Bible

We hold to the Bible as God's very Word to us. By the Word we come to know God and have all we need for a fulfilling life and growing faith in Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

We believe that the New Testament writers were inspired of God and know, therefore, that the New Testament is true and contains the final and, complete revelation from God to man (John 16:7-15) (2 Timothy 3:16-17) and Jude 1:3

We believe that the Old Testament was also inspired; however, that as a part of Gods eternal plan it was only a preparation or "tutor to bring us to Christ"  (Galatians 3:23-25)

The New Testament teaches that the Old Law was "blotted out, taken out of the way, and nailed to the cross" (Colossians 2:14). When the Old Law was abolished the new and better covenant went into effect (Hebrews 8:6-13; 9:15-18).  See study

Following the New Testament as the rule of faith and practice and the Old Testament as example (Hebrews 8:5; Romans 15:4), we speak where the Bible speaks and to be silent where it is silent.

We believe that to subscribe to any creed other than the Bible, to refuse to obey any, or to follow any practice not sustained by the Bible, would be adding to or taking from the teachings of God (Galatians 1:8; Revelations 22:18-19).

God
We believe that there is one eternal, almighty God who created the universe.
(Deuteronomy 6:4) (Genesis 1:1-2)  (Matthew 5:16,45; 6:1,4,8,9) (James 1:17) (John 1:1,4:24,14:16-20) (Genesis 1:2) (2 Peter 1:21) (Genesis 1:1) (Acts 17:24-28) (Hebrews 11:3)

Jesus
We believe Jesus spoke the truth telling His disciples when He would return. Matthew 10:23, Matthew 16:27-28, Matthew 21:40-45, Matthew 23:34-39, Matthew 24:30,34, Matthew 26:59-64, Luke 21:22 and Luke 21:32.  See study

God sent His only Son, Christ Jesus, into the world to live as a man and die on a cross as the perfect sacrifice for our sins. Jesus rose to life again on the third day, ascended back into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God. He destroyed death for the believer.

God's one and only Son, our one and only Savior. (John 1:14, 3:16) (1 John 4:9)  (2 Peter 3:18)
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary. (Luke 1:30-35) (Matthew 1:18)
Who is eternal but was born Jesus of Nazareth, both fully human and fully divine. (Matthew 21:11) (John 1:14,19:19) (Rom. 5:15-17) (Colossians 2:9) (1 John 1:1)
Who suffered and was crucified under Pontius Pilate (Luke 23:1-46)
Who died and was buried, and Who rose again bodily from the dead on the third day (Luke 23:44, 24:8) (John 20:24-29) (1 Corinthians 15:3-8)
Who ascended into Heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Father. (Luke 22:69) (Acts 1:1-9) (Colossians 3:1)
Who will judge both the living and the dead.  (The dead are the non believers) (Matthew 24:36-42) (John 3:16-17, 14:1-3
) (Acts 1:10-11, 10:39-42; (1 Peter 4:5) (1 Corinthians 15:3-4, 26)  (Ephesians 1:20)  (Luke 1:35) (Romans 3:24-26) (1 Peter 1:3-5) (Ephesians 4:11-16) and 1 John 2:1-2

Holy Spirit
We believe all Miraculous Spiritual Gifts came to and end in 70AD See study

He has given all those who believe in Jesus, the Holy Spirit, as a helper and a pledge of the inheritance.

Who is an active and operative part of the triune God (John 16:5-15; Acts 1:7-8; Romans 8:26-27)
Who indwells and empowers every Christian (1 Cor. 3:16; 6:19; (2 Timothy 1:14) Acts 2:38)

We believe God inspired the original writings of the Scripture and those writings were without error (Mark 12:36) (John 14:26; 16:12-15) (Acts 1:16) (1 Corinthians 2:12-13)  (2 Timothy 3:14-16) (2 Peter 1:20-21)
(Acts 2:38 | Ephesians 1:13-14)

Salvation
In the Bible we find God's redeeming plan of salvation in which sinners are saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus.
(Ephesians 2:8-9 | Romans 10:9-10 | Acts 2:38 | Romans 6:1-7) (John 1:12, 2:3; II Corinthians 5:17 -21; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:4-7; Daniel 12:1-2: Matthew 25:31-46; John 3:16, 36, 5:24, 10:28-29, 11:25-26; Romans 8:28 -29; I John 4:11-13; Acts 2:38; Jude 1:1-25 and Revelation 20:12-15). See study

The Great Commission
We believe that Jesus had His disciples in the first century make Christ known to the whole world, which was the Roman Empire. Matthew 28:18-20  We believe the gospel had been preached in all the world as Paul tells us. Romans 1:8, Romans 10:18, Romans 16:26, Colossians 1:6, Colossians 1:23, Titus 2:11  See study

However, applying it to our generation, we must bring those outside the gates of the New Jerusalem inside. Revelation 22:14-15 See study

Hell
We believe Christ never taught on Hell, because there is no biblical concept of Hell. See study

Communion
Our church family celebrates communion, or the Lord's Supper, every Sunday morning in our gathering (1 Corinthians 11:23-26). We practice open communion, meaning all who have confessed that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, are welcomed to take communion with us whether you are a member of our church or not.   See study

Baptism
We believe that Baptism is not required for salvation,  but  a Christian should be Baptized which symbolizes our union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection (Romans 6:1-7). If you would like more information about baptism, please feel free to visit with the minister.  See study

When We Die
Before the Second Coming of Christ, we went to Grave.  But since then we go directly to Heaven. See study

End Times
We believe that the "end times/last days" are not the end of the universe, the end of history, or of the Christian age. Rather, the last days were the end of the old covenant age, which was passing away in the first century (Hebrews 8:13). See also Daniel 12:4-13; Matthew 21:33-45; 23:29-39; 24:2, 3,14, 34; Luke 21:22, 32; Acts 2:14-20; 1 Corinthians 7:29, 31; Hebrews 1:2; 9:26; 1 Peter 1:20; 4:7, and 1 John 2:17-18.  See study

Tithe/Tithing
In the New Covenant, the Levites have been done away with. The entire Temple system is gone. There is no New Covenant tithe, because Jesus canceled the Law by nailing it to the Cross.

The Church/Kingdom
We believe Jesus established his kingdom in the first century.  And  it is a spiritual one that we are in now. See study

Becoming a Member
Membership at Abide In The Lamb is faithfully joining with other followers of Jesus. The New Testament followers of Jesus shared their lives with each other, so we gather regularly to grow in Christ, serve Him and each other, and encourage one another in the faith. (Hebrews 10:23-25)(Acts 2:44-47) Our pastor is available to speak with you if you desire to become a member of AITL. We welcome you to come forward, if you'd like to begin that discussion.
